All Heroes Don't Wear Capes...

Your Guide to the Best 4th of July Sales

4th of July Party Ideas

I do not approve of this mid-week 4th of July. When closer to the beginning or end of the week, you can justify taking (and giving) a free day off but this whole middle-of-the-week thing is QUITE annoying. That said, the EHD crew is headed out early today because it’s still a free country (as of today) and that’s what we do. So we leave you with a roundup of all the 4th of July sales that we researched (getting some insider information). It’s not a meaty post, I realize, but you don’t want Arlyn, Jess, Bekah and I staying late in the office to finish a big robust design post that no one will actually see because it’s the day before a big holiday, do you?

Besides, consumerism is an American sport. I suggest you practice at all times. And by “at all times,” I mean when you actually need something.

We included all the need-to-knows (run dates, special codes) for each retailer, all you gotta do is click on the hyperlinked store name to get to shopping.

I hope you have a wonderful Fourth filled with all the Fs: family, friends, fun and fireworks.

Home Goodies:

I try to pop into this wonderland of decor anytime I’m in NYC. They tend to carry/sell “splurge-worthy” items (i.e. $$$$), so if you’re on the market for anything being offered in the sale (bedding, bath, bedroom furniture, etc.), you’ll want to be sure to take advantage of the extra savings while you can.

We regularly turn to Annie Selke for rugs around here. There’s a good chance you’ve pinned an image from me of a room with an Annie Selke/Dash & Albert rug (like my living room, for instance). But the site doesn’t just do rugs; you’ll also find bedding, bath, furniture, decor and more…all included in the sale.

Just like Annie Selke, you’d probably recognize a ton of pieces from Article that we’ve used in projects over the years (I had a sectional from them in my previous home in Glendale, , you’re going to see a ton of their stuff in the Portland project, so stay tuned). Their furniture is solid, well-made and stylish, and because they are direct-to-consumer, they don’t have the regular mark up that comes with some bigger box stores. Plus, they have a 30-day no-questions-asked return guarantee for anyone who suffers from internet purchase-related FoBR (fear of buyer’s remorse). We love this brand.

Here’s your chance to save big bucks (well, 15%) on anything from Artifact Uprising if you really loved the linen-covered photography books I wrote about in this Mother’s Day post but weren’t ready to bite the bullet at the time. That, or, if you’ve been meaning to get some art or photos printed but haven’t gotten around to it, we can definitely recommend the service for printing anything special (they do large scale printing and you can get something printed at a 40″×60″ size for around $150).
