Crafting Party For The Shelter
Well folks we only have a week to go until we do our install at the shelter and since we were there last there has been a ton of deliveries from the companies and artists that have so generously donated. The past two Saturday’s there have been volunteers on site unpacking and putting furniture together and doing other hardy jobs that we would normally end up doing, so when we got there on Tuesday it was like Christmas morning seeing all the pieces assembled and put together. So naturally I had to put on a muu muu and force some totally silly shots with lamps in just WACKY places.
All the art had arrived that Danielle from had organized which you can read more about the artists here. We also received a ton of art from which we’re excited to get framed. We are looking for local framers who would be interested in collaborating and framing some of the art, so if you know of anyone please pop a note in the comments.
Thank you again to | | | | | | | | | and of course Danielle for coordinating this. And for sending us some of your amazing artists works.
Sometimes the baby gets tired which means I get tired so naturally I had to test out one of the sectionals… you know, for the baby. I’m not sure what Ginny’s excuse was…
We are super excited about the kid’s areas and the nursery especially these animal heads. Lauren from also sent us a super cute HANDMADE BY HER raccoon for the kid’s area.
We are installing at the end of this week and then on Saturday we are hosting a fun family community art project with the wonderful ladies from and we want you to be there. We are crafting a quilt which will be a main feature in the shelter living room and made by us and our families, the shelter families, donors and volunteers. We don’t have room/budget to make this a huge event, but as a mom with kids I know that I am always looking for ways to have fun, spend time with my kids on a Saturday and if there is a way to bring some awareness of some social issues into their little brains then its a win for all. So if you are LA based and your family is interested in coming please RSVP . It will be super casual and fun – just crafting, some pizza, a playground, some balloon animals, and yes, you can tour the (hopefully) finished space.
Thank you again to | | | | | | | | | | AND ALL OF YOU for your awesome and generous donations.
See the beginning post here, the first update post here, a last little nudge to our indiegogo campaign here, an art roundup of our favorite work from the artists that have donated here, and a big thank you to those who donated here.
